5 Tips for More Efficient Lashing

Time is indeed a precious commodity, particularly in the fast-paced and competitive world of lash extensions. As lash artists, we’ve honed in on a multitude of techniques that have revolutionized our skills, allowing us to work with increased speed while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Over the years, we’ve fine-tuned our methods to streamline our process, and we’re excited to share these valuable tips and tricks with you. From mastering the perfect lash pattern to streamlining your application process, we’ll dive into the details of how to enhance your efficiency and take your lash game to the next level.

Prepare for Efficiency

To prepare for an efficient lash day, it’s essential to set yourself up for success by following these best practices:

Prep and store tools: Make sure you have all the necessary tools, including 5 pairs of clean and prepped lashes, stored in a clean lash case. This will help you quickly locate the right tools when you need them, reducing downtime and ensuring you’re always working with the right equipment.
Understand the importance of using new lashes for each client: Using the same line of lashes on multiple clients can lead to infection, which is a serious issue that can have long-term consequences. It’s crucial to understand that using new lashes for each client is a necessary step in maintaining hygiene and ensuring the health and safety of your clients.
Use the right amount of lashes: When performing fills, you don’t need to use the entire 8mm lash strip. Cutting only what’s necessary will save you time and reduce waste. For full sets, laying out the entire strip of the required length is a more efficient way to work.
Maintain hygiene standards: By following these practices, you’ll not only maintain high hygiene standards but also simplify your lashing process, making it more efficient.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to:

Reduce downtime by quickly locating the right tools
Ensure the health and safety of your clients by using new lashes for each client
Simplify your lashing process by using the right amount of lashes
Maintain high hygiene standards
By being mindful of these best practices, you’ll be able to provide exceptional service to your clients while also streamlining your workflow and increasing efficiency.

Glue Trays for Lash

In the early days of eyelashes, people relied on rubber rings and jade, but looking back on the past. Only later did people realize how much time and energy they had consumed. Every time a new drop of glue is needed, we have to go through a long process: add water to the old glue, discard the glue ring or peel off the tape, remove the new ring or tape, and finally dispense the glue. At the moment, this doesn’t seem like a waste of time, but it adds unnecessary time.

That’s why we promote the use of clean glue trays – one per customer. Having them readily available not only saves time but also ensures safety and health. At the end of the day, simply wash them overnight. The next day, wash and scrub with warm water and soap to keep it clean. By combining a glue tray into your daily routine, you’ll rise efficiency and enhance the lash experience for you and your clients.

Finish the inner and outer corners, then use tape!

Start your lashing course by dealing with the inner and outer corners first, and don’t forget to make good use of tape! Beginning with these difficult areas when your focus is sharpest will set a smooth pace for the rest of the lash application. The tape becomes your trusty friend in achieving clean, great results. Whether you’re uncertain about layering or struggling to reach those trouble corners, tape provides the solution. Remember, if you’re using tape on the eyelid, keep it attached; separate it only when using it to ensure lashes for layering. Additionally, straight isolating tweezers are an excellent tool to use to reach those difficult spots with ease.

Be Silent

As an eyelash owner, it’s essential to strike a delicate balance between valuing conversations with clients and keeping them to a minimum during appointments. While it’s natural to want to connect with each client and build a rapport with them, it’s crucial to remember that this is a time for relaxation and rejuvenation.

In reality, excessive chatter can be overwhelming and distracting, making it challenging for clients to fully unwind and enjoy their experience. By keeping the conversation to a minimum, you’re creating an environment that’s conducive to relaxation, which ultimately leads to better results.

Moreover, research has shown that people tend to perform better and receive better outcomes when they’re in a relaxed state. This is because relaxation reduces stress levels, allowing the body to respond more positively to treatments and therapies. Many clients have even thanked me for creating an atmosphere that encouraged them to fall asleep during their appointments – talk about a testament to the power of relaxation!

So, what does this mean for you? It means being mindful of your chatty tendencies and making a conscious effort to keep the conversation light and brief during appointments. Use the pre-appointment time or prep time to catch up with clients, but once the eyelash application begins, it’s time to focus and get down to business.

By prioritizing your clients’ relaxation and comfort, you’re not only providing them with a more enjoyable experience but also setting yourself up for success. Remember, a happy client is a returning client, and by striking the right balance between conversation and quiet time, you’re building trust, loyalty, and a reputation as a top-notch eyelash expert.

Improve Your Lashing Technique

To significantly improve your lash application technique, it’s essential to commit to regular practice outside of the actual application process. Regardless of your goals, investing time and energy into enhancing your skills will yield significant results. For the first 2-3 weeks, I strongly recommend dedicating yourself to training to build a strong connection between your mind and muscles.

Here are some key areas to focus on during this initial period:

Even fan shape: Concentrate on creating a symmetrical and even fan shape with each lash application. This requires attention to detail and a steady hand.
Precise placement: Practice placing each lash at the correct position along the natural lash line, ensuring that they are evenly spaced and aligned.
Best glue application: Master the art of applying the right amount of glue to ensure a strong bond between the lash and the natural lash. This requires patience and control.
Correct direction: Develop a consistent direction for applying lashes, whether it’s from the inner corner to the outer corner or vice versa.
Repeat these movements until they become second nature and are stored in your muscle memory. It’s crucial to remember that progress is individualized, so don’t rush into anything. This is a journey of self-improvement, not a competition with others.

By dedicating yourself to consistent practice, you’ll be able to:

Enhance your overall technique
Increase your confidence
Achieve more accurate and even applications
Improve your overall efficiency
Enhance your customer satisfaction

Transitioning from Fill-Ins to Full Sets

When you feel comfortable with your fanning technique, it’s time to transition from fill-in exercises to full sets. This is a crucial step in your lash journey, as it allows you to practice and perfect your skills using approximately 50% of your natural lashes. By doing so, you’ll reduce the stress of starting from scratch and racing against the clock.

To transition to fill-in exercises, start by doing a few fills until you’re confident in your ability to apply lashes without mistakes. This may take anywhere from three to ten fills, depending on your personal progress and learning curve. Remember, the key is to take it slow and steady, focusing on mastering each step before moving on to the next one.

One of the benefits of starting with fill-ins is that you’ll develop muscle memory and fine-tune your skills without the pressure of applying a full set. You’ll also get a feel for how the lashes respond to your fanning technique and learn how to make adjustments as needed.

In addition, fill-ins will help you build confidence and patience, which are essential qualities for a successful lash artist. You’ll learn how to work efficiently and effectively, taking your time to ensure each lash is applied perfectly.

So, don’t be tempted to jump into full sets right away. Take the time to master the fill-in exercises and you’ll be well-prepared for the demands of working with a full set of lashes. With practice and patience, you’ll be able to tackle even the most challenging lashes with ease and confidence.

We trust that these suggestions will be helpful! Achieving these small adjustments can have a significant impact on the efficiency of your lash services. By making a few minor tweaks, you can streamline your workflow, reduce stress, and ultimately provide a better experience for your clients.
